Plain-language overview
Some neurological symptoms, developmental patterns or neuromuscular conditions may have a genetic cause. Assessment brings together the child’s history, examination, family history and previous results to guide the next appropriate step.
This page cannot determine the cause of a symptom or whether a child needs urgent care. A clinical assessment is individual.
When families may seek assessment

Preparing for the consultation
Bring previous reports, current medication details, school or therapy feedback and safely recorded videos of events if available. Never delay emergency care to record a video.
